General guidance for looking after installed paint protection film, and how to raise a warranty question. The guidance below is general — always follow the film manufacturer's and your installer's specific instructions where they differ.
A few simple habits keep PPF looking and performing as intended.
Give the adhesive time to settle. Avoid washing and avoid exposing fresh edges to high pressure or heavy rain for the period your installer recommends. Light water pockets or haze under the film can be normal during curing and usually clear as moisture evaporates.
Hand wash with a mild, pH-neutral car shampoo and a soft mitt. Rinse first to lift loose dirt, wash from the top down, then dry with a clean microfibre towel rather than letting the vehicle air-dry, to reduce water spots.
Keep high-pressure washers away from film edges and seams. Avoid abrasive polishes, cutting compounds and stiff brushes. Remove bird droppings, tree sap and insect residue promptly, as these can stain if left under strong sun.
Many films have a heat-responsive topcoat, so light marks can diminish with warmth such as the sun or warm water. Check the product documentation before applying any heat, and avoid polishing unless the documentation allows it.
